When combined with recycled tire rubber crumbs, a very durable flooring material is produced. Mega Tiles are made from 100% recycled rubber and the specially engineered polymer binder. Because of the high level of recycled material in each tile, these products can be a contributing factor towards LEED Green Building Council certification. These tiles are proudly made in the USA.

Bounce Back Rubber Playground Mats are available as 2x 2 ft. tiles, with various thickness options including 1.75-, 2.25-, 2.5-, 3.5- and 4-inch. These rubber playground tiles feature ASTM and IPEMA fall height ratings up to 10 ft. This mat surface option is popular, dependable and can be found in playgrounds across the country. It provides long-term rubber mat surfacing while offering ADA accessibility when used the ADA border ramp edging.
This product is a great option for west coast customers, and ships from the Pacific Northwest.
Unlike other surfacing options, such as wood chips or loose-fill sand or gravel, these tiles do not have to be continually raked to maintain a safe surface for your playground. The solid design of these playground surface tiles makes it impossible for foreign objects to hide. This provides a safer environment for children. Also, unlike poured-in-place rubber surfacing, you don’t have to replace your entire surface if some areas begin to wear down. You can simply replace that tile or group of tiles.
No other playground surfacing material offers the degree of safety assurance that rubber tiles can provide. Wood and rubber mulch products are easily displaced, resulting in inadequate thickness/protection in large areas of the playground. They also present an undesirable and dangerous material that children can swallow, throw or kick. Poured-in-place products are subject to climatic variation during installation, which makes the durability and lifespan of the material unpredictable. Bounce Back Tiles eliminate these problems and offer the assurance of safe surfacing for children’s play areas.
Bounce Back Playground Tiles are designed to meet federally-mandated Critical Fall Height requirements for playground equipment up to 10-feet tall. These rubber playground tiles have been certified to comply with these requirements by IPEMA through TUV/SUD, which is a third-party, independent testing/certification laboratory. Additionally, the manufacturer conducts regular, in-house Critical Fall Height testing as part of their Quality Control plan.
The fall height protection for each thickness measurement of bounce back rubber playground mats is:
6 feet rating for 2.5-inch thickness
8 feet rating for 3.5-inch thickness
10 feet rating for 4-inch thickness
Bounce Back tiles are available in two color options: EPDM and Color Topped. The first is a surface wear layer of colored EPDM rubber granules. With this option, you can choose from green, tan or blue colors.
A second color option is a surface layer of colored tire crumb rubber. This economical option includes Black, Red, Blue, Green and Brown. Tiles with these colors can used in combination to create very appealing playground designs.
Bounce Back tiles can be easily and economically installed over a variety sub-surfaces. Once an installation sub-surface has been properly prepared, the tiles can usually be installed by the customer’s maintenance crew. This cannot be said of poured-in-place surfacing, which requires expensive contractors and specialized equipment to effectively install.
Bounce Back Tiles are virtually maintenance free. Most cleaning simply involves a broom, garden hose or leaf blower. Replacing damaged tiles is as easy as removing the tile and installing a new one. This is not the case with other playground options which require costly and unattractive poured-in-place surface repairs.
Bounce Back tiles are designed to allow rainwater to flow through the tile surface and away from the playground, as opposed to forming puddles on the surface. This allows children to resume play after bad weather sooner than they could on other surfaces such as poured-in-place.
Bounce Back Playground Tiles are made from 100% recycled rubber and a specially-engineered polymer binder. Because of the high level of recycled material in each tile, these products meet and exceed the requirements set forth in U.S Executive Order 13101, Greening the Government, and they can be a contributing factor towards LEED Green Building certification.

When Melanie Rose was tasked with finding a replacement for curled and tattered 3/8 inch thick EPDM roof protection mats at Jews for Jesus in Skokie, Ill., protecting the roofing membrane under their rooftop deck/patio was her primary concern. She researched nearly a dozen different kinds of roof mats and tiles before deciding on Sterling Roof Top Tiles from Greatmats.
After experiencing severe curling with the previous mats, the Chicago-area non-profit facility was looking for a material that would first and foremost protect the roofing membrane. As the thickest and longest lasting option, Sterling Roof Top Tiles were a clear favorite for Melanie and her Chief Administrative Officer at the San Francisco headquarters.
Among the factors that came into play were customer service, price and durability against foot traffic, furniture and weather conditions.
The eight-year-old roof protection mats to be replaced not only failed to protect the roof membrane after they began curling, but also became hazardous to walk on and left black carbon on the feet and clothing of children playing on its surface.
All 11 of the mats considered for the new surface were interlocking mats, but the 2” Sterling Roof Top Tiles were the only ones with more than a 1” thickness. Melanie spoke at length with sales representatives from each company and was impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of her Greatmats representative who confidently pointed her in the right direction and sent her a free sample. She eventually narrowed her field of options to the Sterling Roof Top Tiles, Jamboree Playground Tiles and Puzzle-Lock Rubber Interlocking Mats, which she presented to her CAO to make the final decision.
While the Sterling Roof Top Tiles were more expensive than the rest of the options, she and her CAO felt the benefits outweighed the difference in price. What most impressed Melanie was the fact that the tiles were well made, dense, thick and had excellent drainage. They also wouldn’t fade, freeze or curl under the stresses of full sun exposure, extreme temperatures or snow that is so common in the area. To top it off, the tile comes with a 10 year limited warranty.
Once the tiles were ordered, Jews for Jesus, hired a local handyman and his partner to install the flooring, which took them two days to complete the project. Melanie’s opinion of the product after installation only got better.
”I was surprised at how beautiful it looked!” Melanie said. ”Even though the pictures on the website are nice, the real thing was more beautiful. … To see and walk on the entire deck of them was impressive.”
The newly resurfaced space is used as a deck/patio for a pair of apartments above an office.
”People are always coming and going and we have events on the deck,” Melanie added. ”The seams fit tightly together. It’s very, very durable. It’s comfortable to walk on. And we have the confidence that the roofing membrane underneath is fully protected.”
For commercial gyms and health clubs, our Geneva Rubber Tiles are an excellent flooring option. This durable, commercial grade, interlocking rubber floor tile is available in thicknesses from 1/4 to 1/2 inch in a 3×3 ft tile size. All the tiles in this series are center tiles with interlocking tabs on all four sides. Typically used to protect the floor from exercise equipment such as treadmills or stationary bikes, rubber flooring is also the top choice for most facilities for keeping the floor safe from free weights. Rubber is a hard surface that can take a beating. However, please note that if you’re looking for a soft surface for aerobic activities, you would probably be happier with a softer product such as foam or one of our modular tiles. In most scenarios, a rubber tile thickness of 8mm is sufficient protection for your floors. For walkways and areas where there won’t be weights dropped, you can usually get by with 1/4″ rubber. However, if you are looking at an area where heavy weights (100 lbs or more) are going to be dropped repeatedly, you will want to go with a thicker option. 1/2″ rubber is usually the choice for those situations.
This interlocking rubber flooring tile option is an excellent choice for large scale commercial projects for a couple reasons. It is easier to install rubber tiles than rubber rolls. They aren’t as heavy and do not require a glue or tape-down application because the interlocking edges will keep the floor solidly together. Over time, the seams between tiles will actually begin to fade to the point where they become very hard to see. These tiles are better than our smaller 2×2 tiles for larger installations because fewer tiles means less installation time and fewer seams..
The Geneva rubber floor tile series is our stocked line of 3×3 ft interlocking rubber floor tiles in standard colors and thicknesses, choose 8 mm for the best value. It is only one millimeter thinner than 3/8″ tiles but is less expensive and you will not notice a difference in the performance of the product. Because the interlocking design for the Geneva series of rubber floor tiles is a universal interlock design, you can spin the tiles in any direction and attach them to another tile. This is particularly helpful when trying to piece the final few tiles in on a wall-to-wall installation. Universal interlock tiles usually yield the least amount of material waste. You can easily cut these rubber tiles for a custom wall-to-wall installation in your home gym or in large scale commercial installations.
To determine how many tiles you need, measure the walls in your room. Enter those dimensions in our convenient online floor planner and it will calculate the tile count for you. If you’d rather, give one our representatives a call and we can help you to decide how many rubber floor tiles to buy.
Geneva floor tiles are available in six colors. They are made in the USA of recycled content.
