4×6 Ft x 3/4 Inch Fitness Rubber Floor Mat Diamond Black

The 4×6 Ft x 3/4 Inch Fitness Rubber Floor Mat in Diamond Black from Greatmats is one of the most durable, reliable, and longest-lasting floor mats you can find. This4×6 ft black fitness rubber matcovers a large area, gives you outstanding durability, and can be used for a seemingly-limitless variety of spaces.

Thanks to outstanding service from the Greatmats team, you can use these 4×6 gym floor mats for your home, fitness center, horse barn or commercial area.

But first, let’s learn more about these amazing 3/4 rubber mats.

Built for Durability, Quality, and Consistency
You can find 4×6 rubber mats in 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch thickness, but if you want outstanding strength and durability, you should choose 3/4 rubber mats. At 3/4 inches of thickness, you get the best possible protection for flooring. Of course, the added thickness also means added weight, as these 4×6 rubber mats weigh 105 pounds each. You’ll want to keep that in mind when moving and installing the 4×6 gym mat; you may need help safely moving them.

These 4×6 rubber gym mats come in solid black and with 25% color fleck. All the black rubber material in the mix is made from a recycled rubber source. Rubber mats made from recycled material are extremely durable, and they are often less expensive than mats and rolls made from new rubber. In some cases, recycled rubber can be better for certain applications.

These 4×6 gym floor mats cover a total of 23 square feet. (The measurements are actually just under 4 feet and 6 feet, reducing the square footage.) This allows you to cover a wide area with very few mats. It also makes transportation easier, as you won’t need hundreds of mats to cover a large area. (Remember that they are heavy.)

These revulcanized rubber mats are non-absorbent, which helps protect against water damage, as well as mold growth.

The top of this 3/4 rubber mat uses a diamond pattern, which helps increase traction and reduce the chances of slipping. With this non-slip surface, you’ll have great reliability and safety. This can be especially important if using the mats in a work space, but it’s also important for workout areas, horse barns and more.

Because these mats are not UV treated and only they are not recommended for outdoor use. If you need an outdoor surface material, we have many other outdoor mats and tiles for you to choose from.

The edges on this rubber mat are trued, which means the tile has very straight edges that are precision cut on a water jet cutting table. They do not have an interlocking connection, but there is no special adhesive required for installation, as the mats generally lay flat, especially when fitted properly.

Uses for These Outstanding 4×6 Rubber Mats
Choose this type of 4×6 rubber mat when you need a single product for use under exercise and weight lifting equipment. This rubber mat is very durable and long lasting, and will stand up to exercise equipment, free weights and large animals.

Gym Flooring
You can place everything from weight benches to powerlifting stations over the mats with little concern of damage to the surface. They can withstand the impact of dropped metal weights, as well as the constant pressure from treadmills. With these 4×6 gym floor mats in your facility, you’ll have a durable, slip-resistant surface that holds up to constant pounding.

These 4×6 rubber floor mats offer our customers an economical rubber mat option for use under heavy workout equipment, treadmills, stationary bikes and steppers.

Because recycled rubber can have a strong smell, this mat is not recommended for individuals with a high sensitivity to smell. This is because the material is made with sulfur-based adhesives. Smells will fade over time.

They are great for commercial weight rooms and athletic fitness centers on military bases and more with large spaces.

These rubber floor mats are one of the most affordable and economical options when a durable and large single piece of rubber material is needed in weight rooms, workout rooms and gyms.

Equine Flooring
This rubber mat is excellent for equine applications in horse stalls and aisle ways. Whether a horse is shod or bare hoofed, these mats give superior traction, helping reduce the chances of slipping and injuries to your prized animals. While they do not display a particularly cushiony or springy nature, they are easy horse’s joints, giving them relief from hard concrete and making stall mucking much easier than dirt or gravel floors. Because they are 3/4 inch thick, the mats will hold up against the weight of even the heaviest horses.

Other Uses
Use this product on commercial walkways or any commercial location where a durable rubber flooring is required. They will lay flat when placed over a hard, flat surface while giving that surface superior traction. They can also hold up against heavy equipment while giving workers a slip-resistant work space.

Because they are easy to clean, you’ll have a material that enhances the quality of your facility. From homes to commercial centers, these rubber mats will give you years of quality and reliability.

Simple to Install in Any Location
At Greatmats, we believe that specialty flooring should be easy to install when at all possible. You should not have to deal with unique tools, special adhesives, or advanced connectors, and you certainly shouldn’t need an engineering education to place the mats together.

Fortunately, these 3/4 inch rubber mats are simple to install, and nearly anyone can figure out the installation process, which requires no special adhesives or tools. The mats press up against each other tightly, forming a virtually seamless connection thanks to the trued edges.

Cutting the Mats
Cutting could be required if you need to fit the mats to specific areas. While they are made from a strong, resilient material, the mats are actually easy to cut. A sharp utility blade will be able to cut the mats quickly, but be sure to use extreme caution to avoid injury. (Tip: Placing a 2×4 board under the mat will help separate the cut, reducing friction with your blade and making cutting easier.)

Another option to make cutting with a utility blade easier, you can spray a small amount of WD-40 on the knife edge. This helps lubricate the blade and makes for smoother cutting. (Once again, use extreme caution, as the blade will cut with minimal resistance, increasing the chances of slipping.)

Jigsaws and reciprocating saws can also cut the material.

The mats are a loose-lay product, and no adhesives are needed to place the mats.

When the mats are in place and you move the first equipment over the flooring, you may notice some slight movement. While movement may be more noticeable with thinner mats, the 3/4 rubber mats may still move slightly. Don’t worry about shifting. Once the equipment is in place, the mats will lay flat and there should be no further movements.

Easy Cleaning and Maintenance
When you install these 4×6 rubber mats, you’ll have a product that is easy to clean. In almost all cases, sweeping and vacuuming is all that’s required to keep the mats clean. A beater brush vacuum works best for lifting dirt, dust and debris from the surface of the mats. If you have stubborn dirt and grime, you can remove it with warm liquid and a mild cleaner.

In some cases, you may notice an odor after initial installation. However, this odor can usually be reduced by cleaning the mats after installation. Pine-Sol, Simple Green or even highly diluted bleach (about 1 cap per gallon of water) will help eliminate the smell.

In all cases, be sure to test your cleaning method in a small corner before applying it to the entire mat. This is especially important when using cleaning chemicals and powerful vacuums. Never use petroleum-based cleaners.

5 Years of Reassurance
Because they are made from high-quality recycled rubber, these are some of the most durable and long-lasting mats you can find. To give you even more confidence in your purchase, the 4×6 rubber mats come with a five-year warranty.

This warranty ensures the mat is free of defects in both the material and workmanship. The limited warranty runs from the date of the original purchase. If a defect is found, the customer has 15 days to contact us. If applicable, we’ll help you repair or replace the material as soon as possible.

Sundance Mat 4×6 Ft x 3/4 Inch Straight Edge Standard

The Greatmats 4×6 Ft x 3/4 Inch Straight Edge Standard Sundance horse stall product is the straight edge version of our very popular Interlocking Sundance Stall Mat. These incredibly durable and affordable 4×6 rubber stall mats work perfectly in horse stalls, weight rooms, and Cross Fit gyms, or wherever the smell of rubber is not a concern indoors.

Sundance Mat 4x6 Straight Edge Standard wp1

The 4 ft. x 6 ft. x 3/4 in. Straight Edge Standard Sundance Tile features a pebble like top surface for added traction to your floor. The stall mat weight of 100 pounds per tile means these tiles are not designed to be portable, but they’ll work great as a permanent type of surface installation in a horse stall.

Features of Sundance 4×6 Tiles

Here are some of the key features of our Straight Edge Standard Sundance thick rubber stall mat tiles.

Materials: The primary material used in making these tiles is recycled rubber.

Water resistance: Water or other liquids will not penetrate these horse stall mats.

stall mats gym greatmats

No-slip surface: Each tile offers a slightly rough, pebble like surface that prevents slippage. The surface is called a punter surface.

Designed to Stay Put: The stall mat weight per tile measures about 100 pounds each, meaning the tiles are not easily portable. And the 3/4 inch thickness of these 4×6 stall mats means they cannot be rolled up easily for carrying.

Easy installation: As long as you have a flat surface over which to lay the mats, you can install them relatively easily. Place the rubber mats over the top of concrete, dirt or gravel. Because the horse stall mat weight is 100 pounds per tile, at least two people should work together on installation.

Cutting: Even though these 4 ft. x 6 ft. x 3/4 in. thick rubber stall mat tiles are heavy and have a sturdy construction, you can cut them to fit around the edges of the stall with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge. You then can bend the mat across a 2×4 and snap it before cutting the other side, just like a piece of drywall. Another option is to cut the rubber mat with a jigsaw or with an electric circular handsaw, but you’ll want some help to complete this process safely. Using a saw will also cause the blade to dull.

Benefits of Sundance Horse Mats

Although the traditional surface for a horse stall is firmly packed dirt, sprinkled with hay or straw as bedding, thick rubber mats, such as our Straight Edge Sundance mats, have quite a few advantages over using dirt in the horse stalls.

Lower costs: With heavy rubber mats installed, you’ll use less hay and bedding in the stalls. The horse won’t grind the bedding into the dirt, meaning less is needed.

No More Muddy Floor: A dirt floor will soak up water and urine, eventually turning into a muddy mess. Our Sundance mats do not soak up water, meaning the floor of the stall remains easy to clean. Additionally, the sturdy rubber stall mat weight means it resists curling or buckling, so water cannot seep underneath.

No More Rutted Floor: Horses may cause ruts in a dirt floor, leaving it uneven for walking and unsafe. The horse stall mat weight allows it to remain in place, providing a smooth surface for the horse and for the owner.

Mucking: Cleaning up after the horse becomes much easier with thick rubber mats installed. With mats, you don’t have to deal with muddy or uneven ground inside the stall that makes shoveling and sweeping difficult. You also won’t lose your gravel or other fill during the mucking process.

Cushioning: Although our rubber horse mats are sturdy and provide a hard surface, they do have a little bit of give to them. This means they’re softer on the horse’s joints than concrete or hard-packed dirt or gravel. These rubber mats provide shock absorption and anti-fatigue benefits for large animals.

Warming layer: Having a layer of stall mat weight in the tiles provides a bit of insulation for the horse versus standing and laying on a cold dirt floor. A heavy horse stall mat weight works especially well for a horse with joint or arthritis problems.

Selecting the Right Horse Stall Mat

Each horse stall mat can support the weight of the horse as it moves around, as long as you select a high quality of mat. Some key features to consider include the following.

Thickness: Our 4 ft. x 6 ft. x 3/4 in. Straight Edge Sundance mat tiles provide a desirable thickness level. The 3/4 of an inch of thickness supports the weight of the horse extremely well, although thicker pads are available (usually up to 2 inches in thickness). However, installing mats thicker than 3/4 of an inch can be difficult because of the added weight they have. A 4×6 rubber mat that’s 2 inches thick will weigh more than 250 pounds.

4x6 stall mats

rubber mats for horse stalls greatmats
Straight edges: It’s extremely important to have mats that either lock together or that have straight edges that tightly fit together. Should gaps develop between the tiles, you may find water and urine leaking into the gaps and muddying the ground beneath. This may compromise the ground beneath the mats.

Interlocking mats: Although our 4 ft. x 6 ft. x 3/4 in. Straight Edge Sundance mats do not interlock at the edges, Greatmats does offer interlocking mats. An interlocking mat option represents a smarter idea for your horse stall mat choices if your horse likes to dig or paw at things in its stall. The seams of interlocking mats fit together tighter than straight edge mats, preventing damage from pawing.

Weight: Even though thicker and larger stall mat weight makes the tiles more difficult to install, heavier mats are more desirable. Heavier mats have less of a chance of slipping out of place or buckling under the weight of the horse moving around. Because of the weight of these rubber tiles, you’ll definitely want some help with the installation process.

Sundance Mat 4x6 Straight Edge Standard wp12
Construction quality: Selecting a horse stall mat weight of a high quality, such as our Greatmats Sundance 4 ft. x 6 ft. x 3/4 in. mats, is a must, which ensures the mat won’t shift around or curl at the edges. Lesser quality rubber mats may include non-uniform thickness or a thickness level that’s less than stated in the specifications, both of which could causes a failure of the mat through buckling. Cheaper mats won’t have perfectly straight edges either, meaning they won’t fit together.

Should you need a different size or thickness of horse stall mats than our 4×6 rubber stall mats, Greatmats carries several options. Just contact our helpful customer service center or look through the links on our site to see what’s available.

Preparation for Installation

Before ordering the thick rubber stall mat tiles, you will want to closely measure the area of the stall. Mats should go to the edges of the stall, just to ensure that there’s no chance of tripping over the edges for you or the horse. Figure out how many square feet you need.

The standard size of one mat measures 48 inches wide by 72 inches in length, resulting in 24 square feet per tile. Here are the number of tiles you’ll need for some standard horse stall layouts.

10 by 12 feet: 5 tiles
10 by 14 feet: 6 tiles
12 by 12 feet: 6 tiles
12 by 14 feet: 7 tiles
12 by 16 feet: 8 tiles

Before your 4 ft. x 6 ft. x 3/4 in. tiles from Greatmats arrive, you’ll want to prepare the stall area. Clean up the area, removing any manure, stray bedding and straw.

Make sure the area is level. The area doesn’t have to be perfectly level to the point that you use a bubble level to measure it, but it should be flat enough that the thick rubber stall mat tiles will lay flat.

Although you may install the 4×6 stall mats directly over a dirt floor, you may want to lay down a bed of a couple of inches of pea gravel. This provides a good base to ensure a flat area over which to place the rubber mat tiles.

Other Uses

Beyond using the Straight Edge Sundance tile mats inside a horse stall, you could use them for an installation in a weight room. The thick mats will protect the floor underneath from any dropping of heavy free weights on the floor. Additionally, these rubber tiles will stand up to heavy exercise equipment without suffering damage.

However, these tiles do yield a rubbery smell, greater than that of other types of Greatmats flooring options. If you choose to use these thick rubber stall mat tiles indoors, you may experience some odor, especially in a room with little ventilation.

Home Gym Flooring

When it comes to choosing the best flooring for your home gym, you have a few options.   Selecting the right type of flooring for your particular application is going to be critical.  Choose the wrong home gym flooring and you can have a real problem on your hands and one that’s not easily (or cheaply) replaced.  But how can you know that the flooring type you select is the right one?

The most important thing you can do is talk to flooring professionals.  At Greatmats, our customer service people have a solid handle on which products work best for which applications.   We strongly recommend you discuss your options with us prior to placing an order, especially if the room you’re looking to cover is large.   However, here are some basic pointers to get you started in the right direction.

The most popular product for most home gyms is rubber.  At Greatmats we offer both interlocking rubber tiles and rolled rubber in a variety of sizes, colors, and thicknesses.  Rubber is very effective for protecting both your equipment and your floors.  It offers sound dampening qualities and is rugged enough to withstand the abuse that comes from dropping heavy weights provided you purchase a thick enough product.  It is an excellent surface to use under equipment and weight benches/racks.

However, a common misconception about rubber flooring is that it’s soft and will provide fatigue relief for the athlete.  People also tend to assume rubber is waterproof and will hold up well in wet areas.  This is NOT the case.  If you’re looking for a soft, waterproof surface, you’re looking for foam.

Like our rubber tiles, foam mats are also available in various thicknesses, colors, and sizes.  Interlocking mats are easy to install, require no adhesive, and can be easily transported from room to room or house to house.  They are excellent for aerobic exercise and will give you a soft workout area for aerobic exercises like P90x, Jazzercise, or Zumba.  Foam is waterproof and also provides some sound dampening properties.

There are exceptions to these basic rules.  We do offer Plyometric rubber flooring that is soft and great for aerobic exercise.  It is less dense than standard rubber and specifically designed for running, jumping, bounding, etc.  We also provide Pebble Foam Mats that are tough enough to be used in weight rooms.  However, as a general rule, rubber is best for weight areas.  Foam mats are best for aerobic areas.

A final option is the modular floor tile.  This product is nice for areas where you’d like to create a multipurpose area that won’t be specifically used as a workout area all the time.  We have modular floor tiles that create a great looking room that can double as your aerobics area.  Tiles provide some fatigue relief though not as much as foam and also look fantastic when you’re using the room for other purposes.  Modular tiles are a great selection for aerobic activities but, like foam, aren’t great for weight room areas.

Hopefully, this provides you with some clarification and helps you when trying to decide what product to use for your home gym floor.  Again, we strongly recommend that you discuss your particular situation and needs with a customer service rep prior to buying product if you’re not sure what you need.  We are always happy to help you find the floor that you’ll be happy with for years to come.
