Customer Review-Stay Lock Bump Top Tiles

They say to make money you have to spend money.  Patty W. is living proof that this philosophy can work.  Patty runs a business from her home teaching exercise and needed a good flooring for her workouts classes.

“I use the tiles for a workout floor,” Patty says.  “We do a lot of cardio and it helps my clients who have issues with their joints.  My workouts can be very intense and the flooring supports my workout routines.”

Stay Lock Bump Top Tiles are a relatively new product for us here at Greatmats and we couldn’t be happier with them.  Manufactured in the USA, these tiles are a soft PVC that offers impact cushion and fatigue relief while maintaining rugged durability.   This exercise flooring is perfect for industrial, ergonomic applications as well.  Perfect for aerobic activity, Stay Lock features a unique connection system that holds the floor tiles together tightly and keeps them flat even over concrete or carpeting.

Patty bought her tiles over time adding them as she went until her room was complete.  “I installed the floor as I purchased the tiles and it may have taken less than two hours total to install.  It wasn’t difficult at all.  The only challenge I had was my fingers got a little tired after a while so I used a small hammer to help press down.”  (We recommend a rubber mallet but, hey, whatever works!)  “Overall, it was a breeze.”

Stay Lock tiles need no underlayment to provide a soft, comfortable workout flooring.  This is a plus because it saves time and money.  The tiles can be easily cut to work around obstructions or uniquely shaped rooms.  The tiles require no adhesives so, not only are they simple to install, they can be taken up and brought with you should you decide to relocate.  The typical lifespan of this type of flooring is twenty years.

So, Patty, would  you buy this product again?

“Not only am I pleased, but so are the members of my class.  I will be buying additional flooring in the near future to cover the entire area and I would recommend this flooring…My original flooring was not doing what I needed it to and it made it very difficult for everyone.  So I had to find a solution and the lockable flooring did the trick and increased my business.

Would you recommend Greatmats to your friends?

“I would recommend Greatmats to anyone!”

Thank you, Patty.  We know that you’ll be happy with your workout flooring for years to come.  It is also nice to know that, if something unexpected happens and a tile or two become damaged, you can pop them out and replace them without having to replace the entire floor.  Decades from now, when your exercise floor has reached it’s end, it can be reground and made into new tiles!

Geneva Rubber Floor Tiles

For commercial gyms and health clubs, our Geneva Rubber Tiles are an excellent flooring option.  This durable, commercial grade, interlocking rubber floor tile is available in thicknesses from 1/4 to 1/2 inch in a 3×3 ft tile size.  All the tiles in this series are center tiles with interlocking tabs on all four sides.

Typically used to protect the floor from exercise equipment such as treadmills or stationary bikes, rubber flooring is also the top choice for most facilities for keeping the floor safe from free weights.  Rubber is a hard surface that can take a beating.  However, please note that if you’re looking for a soft surface for aerobic activities, you would probably be happier with a softer product such as foam or one of our modular tiles.

Greatmats Geneva Rubber Tile 8mm Color FlecksIn most scenarios, a rubber tile thickness of 8mm is sufficient protection for your floors.  For walkways and areas where there won’t be weights dropped, you can usually get by with 1/4″ rubber.  However, if you are looking at an area where heavy weights (100 lbs or more) are going to be dropped repeatedly, you will want to go with a thicker option.  1/2″ rubber is usually the choice for those situations.

This interlocking rubber flooring tile option is an excellent choice for large scale commercial projects for a couple reasons.  It is easier to install rubber tiles than rubber rolls.  They aren’t as heavy and do not require a glue or tape-down application because the interlocking edges will keep the floor solidly together.  Over time, the seams between tiles will actually begin to fade to the point where they become very hard to see.  These tiles are better than our smaller 2×2 tiles for larger installations because fewer tiles means less installation time and fewer seams..

Greatmats Rubber Tile 3/8 Inch Color FlecksThe Geneva rubber floor tile series is our stocked line of 3×3 ft interlocking rubber floor tiles in standard colors and thicknesses, choose 8 mm for the best value.  It is only one millimeter thinner than 3/8″ tiles but is less expensive and you will not notice a difference in the performance of the product.

Because the interlocking design for the Geneva series of rubber floor tiles is a universal interlock design, you can spin the tiles in any direction and attach them to another tile.  This is particularly helpful when trying to piece the final few tiles in on a wall-to-wall installation.  Universal interlock tiles usually yield the least amount of material waste.  You can easily cut these rubber tiles for a custom wall-to-wall installation in your home gym or in large scale commercial installations.

Greatmats Rubber Tile 1/2 Inch BlackTo determine how many tiles you need, measure the walls in your room.  Enter those dimensions in our convenient online floor planner and it will calculate the tile count for you.  If you’d rather, give one our representatives a call and we can help you to decide how many rubber floor tiles to buy.

Geneva floor tiles are available in six colors.  They are made in the USA of recycled content.

Geneva Rubber Tiles-3×3′

Designed for larger, commercial applications, the Geneva interlocking rubber flooring tile series is our stocked line of 3×3 ft interlocking rubber floor tiles.  These rubber tiles are available in standard colors and thicknesses from 1/4 to 1/2 inch in a 3×3 ft tile size.

Great for commercial gym areas, these tiles are designed to protect the floor from the wear and tear of everyday weight lifting and exercise machinery.  In most situations, an 8mm or 3/8” thickness is best for weight areas.  1/4” is sufficient for walkways and other traffic areas.  For places where heavy weights (100 lbs or more) are consistently dropped to the floor, you may want to go with a 1/2” rubber for extra protection.
Standard colors for this rubber flooring product are as follows:
1/4” tiles are available in 20% colors.  8mm and 3/8” product comes in black as well as a 10% color fleck.  1/2” tiles are available in black.
The best value we offer is our 8mm thickness.  This is (roughly) 1mm thinner than our 3/8” product and you won’t notice the difference in performance between these two tile thicknesses.
The connection edges for these rubber floor tiles is a universal interlock design.  This means that the interlocking system is not dependent on which way the tile is oriented for the sides to connect to another tile.  This handy feature will maximize tile usage yielding the least amount of material waste.  Easily cut these rubber tiles for a custom wall-to-wall installation in your home gym or in large scale commercial installations with a sharp utility knife and a straightedge.
Interlocking rubber floor tiles are nice because, unlike some other flooring options, they require no adhesive for installation.  Simply piece the tiles together like a giant puzzle and you’re done.  If you decide to relocate, you can simply pack them up and take them with you.
To clean your rubber flooring, simply sweep and mop with a damp mop.

Color Plus Tiles

Home gyms are enjoying a boon of popularity.  This can be attributed to a number of different factors:
The cost of equipment is coming down while its quality is increasing.  More and more people are deciding to take the money they would spend on a commercial gym membership and investing it in their homes.  The membership, along with commuting costs, can be easily transferred into their own basements.
Also, the distractions that come with working out in a public place are eliminated.
Combine all these reasons with the fact that many people are embarrassed to start training in front of strangers and you have a recipe for a large home gym groundswell.
Along with this surge of home gym usage, more people are concluding they need rubber flooring to protect the surfaces of their floors.  All it takes is a dumbbell dropped on a few ceramic tiles and you have a problem on your hands.
An excellent product for home and commercial gym flooring, our Rubber Tile Color Plus will make your space look great.  This product is truly state-of-the-art.  Its tensile strength is four times stronger than most gym flooring products on the market today.
The unique color options and top texture design are not found in any other products.  Molded from SBR rubber, this tile is constructed to present a seamless look when installed.
Great for weight rooms and home gyms, this product is also great for walk areas in ice arenas, golf pro shops, locker rooms, animal care facilities, trade show booths, and batting cages.
Corners and borders are beveled or ramped down.  For a wall to wall installation, you will want to order center tiles.  The sizes of these tiles vary:  center tiles are 2 ft x 2 ft.  Borders measure 1 ft x 2 ft.   Corners cover three square feet each.  All tiles are 3/8” (9mm) thick.
These gym floor tiles feature a non-slip surface.  They are available in nine dynamic colors sure to match your décor.  Color Plus Tiles are made in the USA.
To install this gym floor requires no adhesive.  Simply interlock the edges together like a giant puzzle and you’re done.  For wall-to-wall installations, you can simply cut the tiles as necessary with a sharp utility knife.

To clean your gym flooring, use a neutral PH cleaner – such as Taski Profi.
This product is shipped via freight delivery.

Customer Review-Rolled Rubber

“I am extremely elated and I would most definitely buy from Greatmats again.”

-Don R.
Don chose 3/8” rubber rolls.  He used this rubber flooring to design a fitness center in his basement.  Don attended the National Academy of Sports Medicine to become a personal trainer and it has always been a dream of his to own a fitness center and train clients.

We’ll let him tell his story:

“I wanted the flooring to be durable, flexible, comfortable, and compliment the red and black color scheme of the equipment…I researched some home gym flooring companies online and at brick and mortar…I decided to use Greatmats flooring rolls…the flooring is solid, sturdy, and does not shift when training.”

Rolled rubber is a great option for home gym flooring where weights and exercise equipment is going to be used on a regular basis.  Interlocking rubber tiles are more common for home applications because they’re easier to install and require no adhesives.  This makes the flooring easy to transport if you decide to change locations and want to bring your rubber flooring with you.  However, rolled rubber is less expensive and is often found in commercial applications.   Since Don is using his basement fitness center as a business, it makes sense that he would go this way with the rubber flooring.
Don goes on to say, “when friends, family members, and potential clients visit my fitness room, they say the flooring looks really nice.  One friend who I showed the pictures of the flooring to indicated that it looked professionally done.  The installation went perfectly as explained by Tina (one of our customer service reps).  Thanks, Tina, for your superb advice.  It took 3-4 hours because I wanted it done neatly…the most rewarding part of this project: I saved over $2500 by purchasing the flooring and doing it myself…the website elucidated and depicted the different styles of flooring, percentage of coloring and method of how to request the sample.  I thought it was convenient to get a written quote that included the shipping freight and the total cost…the main reason I purchased my material from Greatmats was because of the superlative customer service, knowledgeable customer service associate, quality products, competitive prices, and concise written quotes.  Moreover, without the rubber flooringmy training room would be incomplete.  I appreciate your company assisting me in achieving my long term goal.”
So, Don, would you recommend Greatmats to your friends?
“Yes, with a favorable endorsement!!!!1”

Thank you, Don.  We’re glad you’re happy with your rubber flooring.  We’re sure you’ll enjoy it for many years to come.

Home Gym Flooring

When it comes to choosing the best flooring for your home gym, you have a few options.   Selecting the right type of flooring for your particular application is going to be critical.  Choose the wrong home gym flooring and you can have a real problem on your hands and one that’s not easily (or cheaply) replaced.  But how can you know that the flooring type you select is the right one?

The most important thing you can do is talk to flooring professionals.  At Greatmats, our customer service people have a solid handle on which products work best for which applications.   We strongly recommend you discuss your options with us prior to placing an order, especially if the room you’re looking to cover is large.   However, here are some basic pointers to get you started in the right direction.

The most popular product for most home gyms is rubber.  At Greatmats we offer both interlocking rubber tiles and rolled rubber in a variety of sizes, colors, and thicknesses.  Rubber is very effective for protecting both your equipment and your floors.  It offers sound dampening qualities and is rugged enough to withstand the abuse that comes from dropping heavy weights provided you purchase a thick enough product.  It is an excellent surface to use under equipment and weight benches/racks.

However, a common misconception about rubber flooring is that it’s soft and will provide fatigue relief for the athlete.  People also tend to assume rubber is waterproof and will hold up well in wet areas.  This is NOT the case.  If you’re looking for a soft, waterproof surface, you’re looking for foam.

Like our rubber tiles, foam mats are also available in various thicknesses, colors, and sizes.  Interlocking mats are easy to install, require no adhesive, and can be easily transported from room to room or house to house.  They are excellent for aerobic exercise and will give you a soft workout area for aerobic exercises like P90x, Jazzercise, or Zumba.  Foam is waterproof and also provides some sound dampening properties.

There are exceptions to these basic rules.  We do offer Plyometric rubber flooring that is soft and great for aerobic exercise.  It is less dense than standard rubber and specifically designed for running, jumping, bounding, etc.  We also provide Pebble Foam Mats that are tough enough to be used in weight rooms.  However, as a general rule, rubber is best for weight areas.  Foam mats are best for aerobic areas.

A final option is the modular floor tile.  This product is nice for areas where you’d like to create a multipurpose area that won’t be specifically used as a workout area all the time.  We have modular floor tiles that create a great looking room that can double as your aerobics area.  Tiles provide some fatigue relief though not as much as foam and also look fantastic when you’re using the room for other purposes.  Modular tiles are a great selection for aerobic activities but, like foam, aren’t great for weight room areas.

Hopefully, this provides you with some clarification and helps you when trying to decide what product to use for your home gym floor.  Again, we strongly recommend that you discuss your particular situation and needs with a customer service rep prior to buying product if you’re not sure what you need.  We are always happy to help you find the floor that you’ll be happy with for years to come.
