Royal Interlocking Carpet Tile

When you are looking for a high-quality interlocking carpet tile that you can use for residential or professional areas, this is the perfect product for your needs. These decorative and durable tiles give you a professional, clean appearance with easy installation and convenient maintenance. From home basements to trade show booth floors, if you need a comfortable surface that looks fantastic, these interlocking carpet tiles are the tiles you want!

Our high-quality interlocking carpet tiles are durable, waterproof and easy to maintain. The tiles can be vacuumed, or simply taken outside to clean on a regular basis. They install quickly, with minimal steps and no special adhesives.

The top of these tiles is laid with a plush durable carpeting. This carpet is bonded to a durable foam base, providing a strong tile that can withstand foot traffic, home furniture and more. Each tile is 2-feet by 2-feet wide, allowing you to cover a large space quickly. To hold together, the edges of the tiles are cut into a precise puzzle design, creating a firm hold with minimal seams. They come with border strips included, so you’ll have everything you need to complete the flooring. If you decide to relocate the carpet tiles, simply stack them together and take them with you. At just under 1.5 pounds per tile, and 2 feet in width Royal carpet tiles are easy to carry.

One of the top advantages of these tiles is that they are completely non-absorbent. This means the interlocking carpet tiles will not absorb water or other liquids, which can be a major concern, especially when placing interlocking carpet squares in a basement. If water seeps into your basement, if you have spilled drinks, or if there are accidents from pets or young children, the tiles will not absorb liquids, which helps keep down mold and bacteria.

Comfortable to walk on, and available in five colors, these interlocking tiles provide excellent cushioning over your basement floor.

Carpet Installation is Simple and Easy!
If your project at hand calls for a lightweight, easy to install material, the Royal Interlocking Carpet Tile may be just what you need. The waterproof tiles require no adhesive or carpet pads to install. This is a simple, do-it-yourself installation project. The interlocking tiles can be cut with a sharp utility knife to fit wall to wall. Place the tiles directly over any flat, hard surface, including, concrete, wood, and ceramic flooring. Its universal interlocking design allows you to interlock the tiles in any direction.

To start the process, you must first clean the subfloor so there are no dirt, debris, grease, water, or obstructions of any kind underneath. Next, start in one corner of the room with a carpet tile firmly against the wall and add tiles down the wall. Continue to add tiles, making sure to follow the directional arrows at all times. When you approach the opposite wall, you can cut the tiles to fit the rest of the room. Leave a gap of about 1/2 inch, allowing for expansion of floor tiles, which can occur with varying room temperatures.

Through the installation, adhesives are not required, which makes installation easier and more convenient.

Fast Cleaning of Carpet with no Special Tools
Do you have a vacuum, some rags, and a sink? Then you can handle all the cleaning for this interlocking carpet tile.

To clean these interlocking carpet squares, you can simply use a vacuum cleaner to remove dirt, sand, and debris from the surface. Any household vacuum will work, but it’s recommended that you test a small section of the interlocking carpet squares to make sure your vacuum will not damage the surface. With simple vacuuming, you’ll remove most of the dust, dirt, and crumbs that can damage the carpet top.

For set-in stains, you can use a damp rag to gently remove any spills or liquids. For added convenience, you can even remove the carpet tile from the floor and wash with warm running water in a sink or tub.
Carpet Surface Colors
You can choose quality colors for your surface when you purchase this interlocking carpet tile. There are five different color options, giving you choices for each specific area. For a straightforward, professional look, you can choose dark charcoal, dark grey, or light grey. However, if you want a little more color and character, the tan tiles are always popular. For even more color, the blue tiles deliver a high-quality appearance while maintaining a great look. No matter which interlocking carpet squares you choose, you’ll get a durable product with a fantastic carpet top.

The 5/8-inch Royal Interlocking Carpet Tile is thicker, with a carpeted top that is softer and more abundant than most other carpet tiles. Available in five different colors, each tile includes two border strips which allow them to be used as a center, border or corner piece. Whether they are used for work or relaxation, these carpet squares are eye-pleasing and easy to walk on. Our interlocking carpet tile can add warmth and comfort to any living space.

Interlocking carpet tiles for basements have become common in today’s market, and you’ll find that Greatmats can provide a much softer carpet tile than most. The plush carpeted surface is similar to what you might find in a luxury vehicle. In terms of comfort and quality, this is a far nicer material than common fibrous, burlap-like carpeting. Interlocking carpeted tiles are a convenient option, and are easy to install; not even tape is necessary! Interlock the tiles together and cut with a sharp utility knife to fit the area of the room and you have a wonderful surface that lasts for years.

The Right Product for Many Different Locations
The carpet bonded EVA and Polyethylene foam material is thick, soft, and comfortable to walk on, making our Royal Interlocking Carpet Tiles a great option for basement floors, theaters, trade show booths and even boat flooring.

Our puzzle style carpet tiles can also be a great option for retail installation spaces, where a long-lasting, durable carpet tile is needed, such as behind retail counters. The Royal interlocking carpet square is quality designed to last for years, so you have the perfect balance between elegant style and long-term reliability. You can also choose the interlocking carpet tile surface to meet your business’s style, such as black for a modern, sleek design or tan for a more natural or rustic appearance.

Royal interlocking carpet tiles are great for trade show booths, giving a professional look and a comfortable, energetic feel. This carpet tile is waterproof, stain-resistant, and works excellent on basement floors, providing comfort and warmth.

While tiles will withstand the weight of vehicles, you may find that indents will occur. For garage installations, it’s more appropriate to use carpet tiles interlocking together to make a lounge or social area. They can be laid out quickly, and if you ever want the space back for a vehicle or equipment, they can be disassembled and removed with little effort.

Anti-fatigue Makes Them Perfect for Work
If you are using these tiles for a commercial space, retail environments, or trade show booths, you could spend hours on your feet. Fortunately, our carpet tiles have a bottom structure that is a 1/2-inch thick foam material designed to provide anti-fatigue benefits, perfect for standing for long periods of time. You can create an interlocking rug for active workstations. The tiles are also strong enough to last under tables and chairs, however, like any cushioned carpeted area, heavy furniture left for long periods of time will likely leave indents without furniture coasters under the legs.

Have the interlocking carpet tiles shipped via ground service directly to your door? The tile is always in stock, and Greatmats can have them shipped in just a few business days, from the time you place your order. The Royal Interlocking Carpet tile is a great option for flooring projects that require a clean looking carpet with a padded anti-fatigue bottom. At Greatmats, we guarantee satisfaction with this quality designed flooring option. When you use basement carpet tiles interlocking, you get quality and longevity.

Please note:
Shade and color may vary from tile to tile within the same order and/or batch of tiles. This is common with this type of interlocking carpet tile.

Greatmats wood grain foam tiles reversibleFoam tiles can transform your hard, flat surface into a cushioned and comfortable work or play area. The reversibility of these interlocking floor tiles doubles the usefulness and lifespan of this flooring option. You can use these tiles with either side up.

Wood grain floor tiles are lightweight, weighing only 1.2 pound for each tile.  The wood look side of this product features a smooth surface while the tan side of the tile features a thatch texture. This thatch surface is durable enough for almost all shoe types except high heels. Interlocking foam tiles are simple to install and require no adhesive or tape.

Select an oak wood-grain look, a tan texture, or both for your basement floor, kids room, or family room. Available in three different shades of wood grain. With this interlocking floor tile, you will receive two border strips per tile. This allows you to edge an island layout with a straight edge all the way around the perimeter of your foam floor installation.

Installation

Greatmats wood grain interlocking foam basement floorAllow the foam tiles to acclimate to your room before installation. The foam tiles can expand with changes in heat and humidity; allow at least a 1/4-inch expansion gap for wall to wall installations.

Installation is as easy as laying the foam floor tiles down and locking them together. You can easily cut this material with a sharp utility knife to fit the tiles in wall-to-wall installations.  Start your installation in a corner, using the provided border strips to reduce the amount of cutting required for a wall-to-wall installation.

Both sides will interlock with each other allowing you to have both tan and wood grain sides up at the same time for a checkerboard or other layout design.

It is not recommended to place the tiles on top of carpeting as foam tiles can shift especially if furniture or equipment is placed on top or during exercise.

Please Note

When used outside, the foam tiles may expand and curl if exposed to direct sunlight in warm climates for extended periods of time.

Color and shade may vary somewhat from foam tile to foam tile within the same order. This is common with EVA foam tiles.

This foam tile is not rated for commercial use in high traffic areas.

Maintenance

Both sides of these floor tiles are easy to clean and are durable to common foot traffic.

These mats are designed to last for many years and are completely non-absorbent. They are kids’ safe and are free of lead and latex. They are engineered to handle both foot traffic and exercise equipment when installed over a hard, flat surface. All foam flooring will indent under heavy weight, but in most cases the indents will disappear in the same amount of time they took to form. In the case, however, where heavy furniture or equipment is left on the tiles for long periods of time, some indents may become permanent.

With six colors available through four different reversible tile options, Pro Sport tae kwon do mats allow you to use your creativity in your floor designs. These martial arts puzzle mats are available in red/blue, black/gray, red/black and green/brown reversible tiles. Each side of the tile has a different solid color. Color tone variations can and will most likely occur within the same batch of mats. Even mats that are made at the factory within minutes of each other can vary in color. This is common with all interlocking EVA foam mats.

If you need help in the design process, try our online floor designer, which can also help determine the number of tiles in each color you will need to complete your project.

Allow an approximately 1/2-inch gap around the perimeter of your room during installation to allow for mat expansion which can occur with fluctuations in heat and humidity. Keep direct sunlight off the mats if possible as this can heat them up and cause expansion.

Caution: Pro Sport tiles are not suitable for use with tables and chairs as sharp heavy objects can puncture or indent foam tiles. This product is also not recommended for yoga studio floors as it can become too soft and slippery, especially when wet.

Foam matting as flooring is effective for military and police tactical training and boxing gyms when using shoes or boots. This type of martial arts foam floor is commonly used in professional martial arts studios and can be used with bare feet. The Pro Sport martial arts mat is ideal for mixed use rooms, such as aerobics, kickboxing and Karate as well as Taekwondo.

‘Color coming off’ issue is not uncommon with puzzle mats. This is common with puzzle mats of all types. We find that red and black are the most susceptible colors to this issue. This is when coloring of the mats comes off on feet and uniforms.

Cleaning

Only use diluted Pinesol for cleaning the surface of the mats.

Spot clean using a scrubby and a sponge. A walk behind auto cleaning machine is recommended for cleaning this karate flooring in large commercial areas. Be sure to clean your mats regularly with a vacuum (after testing the vacuum on the tiles to make sure it does not damage your martial arts flooring).

Wisconsin Woman Brings Foam Floor Mats To Life for Halloween

From Bumblebee to Arcee to Heavy Machinery, Wisconsin Mother Creates Costumes from Foam Puzzle Mats

By Brett Hart

Having already built a reputation for creating elaborate Halloween costumes, Tia Hoffmann of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, set the bar a bit higher a few years ago when she and her then fiance’ attended a Halloween themed engagement party.

Bumblebee & Arcee Transformers Halloween Costume Tia Hoffman Greatmats Foam Floor Tiles

”We wanted to surprise everybody with our costumes,” Tia said. ”They knew every year, we had something elaborate.”

Inspired by the Transformers movies, Tia came up with a plan to dress her husband as the yellow Camaro, Bumblebee, and herself as the motorcycle, Arcee. The first challenge was finding the right materials to create the costumes. She needed something lightweight, yet dense enough to hold its shape.

”I considered something like a PVC material and really just thought it was too heavy,” Tia said. ”I started looking at stores, going up and down aisles to see if I had any materials that popped into my mind, and then I saw yoga mats.”

Tia determined the yoga mats were too malleable, but knew she was on the right track.

”Then I thought of those foam floor mats, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh. That would be great.”’

After a little research, she stumbled upon the website Greatmats.com where she found just what she needed – 5/8 inch thick Premium Foam Floor Mats.

She ordered five of the 2×2 foot mats in yellow for Bumblebee and another three mats in Purple for her Arcee costume. The project consumed her living room and her time for about three months as she constructed the jaw dropping costumes out of these foam tiles.

Using photos and her own imagination and references, Tia logged more than 800 hours working on the costumes.

”We couldn’t invite anyone over, and if we did, we had to scramble and shove everything into a bedroom,” Tia said.

But the time, effort and research paid off as Tia was able to successfully bring her ideas to life.

”I have a very cooperative husband who allows be to dress him up in elaborate costumes every year,” Tia said.

The experience also planted a seed for future costumes.

A couple years later, Tia came across a woman on Facebook looking for someone who could create a Halloween costume for her child who needed a wheelchair to get around. Tia knew just what she could do to help and ordered another 15 foam tiles from Greatmats and donated her time to create a Caterpillar front end loader costume to adorn the child’s wheelchair.

This August, Tia connected with that mother again and they decided to have Tia construct a fire truck costume for the boy using just seven foam tiles and 15 hours of her time.

”I really like using the foam,” Tia said. ”It’s works really well for what I do. I have no education in art, but I’ve always been creative and crafty.”

Since 2011, Tia has constructed four costume’s using the foam tiles, including bride and groom Lego characters. Now the mother of a 9-month-old child and owner of a new puppy, Tia’s time and focus is a little more restricted, but the experiences have inspired her to help other families with disabilities.

Her goal is to set up an annual charitable event where several families with children in similar circumstances can enjoy the festivities of Halloween.

Choosing the best home gym flooring

Because I work for a specialty flooring store, I am often asked which flooring is best for a home gym.  The answer depends on a few variables and I usually reply with a few questions of my own:

What will the home gym be used for primarily?  If you’re looking for a tough material to protect your concrete or hardwoods from being damaged by free weights or heavy exercise equipment, you may want to look at rubber.  Rubber is the traditional flooring for both home and commercial gyms and it is an economical solution for keeping your floors, as well as your equipment, protected.

However…

Rubber flooring is heavy.  By heavy, I mean REALLY heavy.  A square foot of 3/8″ rolled rubber weighs 2.3 lbs.  (8mm is slightly less)  That means to cover a 10×10 foot area, you’re dealing with a 230 lb roll of rubber.  “Well,” you say, “that’s not so bad.  A buddy and I could roll that baby out no problem.”  And maybe you’re right.  But here’s something else to consider:  the rolls show up at your front door on the back of a semi-truck.  If you get a liftgate included in your shipping costs (something to consider) they will lower the roll of rubber to the ground and drive away leaving you to wrestle it into your workout area.  If you don’t get a liftgate, you will have to pull that baby off the truck yourself and that’s a serious endeavor.

Another option is interlocking rubber tiles.  These come in various sizes (typically 2×2 foot or 3×3 foot) and can be installed without adhesive of any kind.  Depending on the type you buy, you can find them at a reasonable price, although generally more expensive than rolled, and they are much easier to handle.  Also, the fact that they require no glue makes it easy for you to bring them with you if you decide to move.

 However….

RUBBER IS NOT WATERPROOF.  Many people are under the impression that rubber is like plastic.  That it can be submerged indefinitely in a flooded basement and come out unscathed.  This is simply not the case.  The porous materials of most rubber flooring will absorb water and hold it.  Over time, this will break the rubber flooring down to such a degree that the floor is rendered all but useless.

If you are considering putting your home gym in a basement that gets mildly damp on occasion, this will probably not be an issue for you and rubber flooring may be your best bet.  If you’re considering putting your home gym in a wet basement that floods from time to time, you may be better served with a waterproof option  such as plastic, modular floor tiles that allow airflow beneath the tiles for a quicker dry.

Do you plan to do aerobic activities in your home gym area?  Zumba, P90x, or Insanity?  If so, you probably don’t want rubber.  Rubber is quite hard and provides little to no fatigue-relief.  If you’re looking for a flooring type to keep your teeth from chattering every time you jump up and down, you need something else.  I typically suggest foam.

Foam flooring is available in various densities and thicknesses.  The play mats that kids play cars on and the MMA mats that fighters throw one another around on are not the same.  Determining which type of foam product is best for your needs depends on what specifically you’ll be using it for.

Unlike rubber, foam is waterproof and can be submerged indefinitely without the foam taking in water and damaging the foam itself.  It provides great shock absorption, requires no glues for installation, and it’s lightweight.  It can be easily installed wall-to-wall because all you need to cut the interlocking tiles to fit is a straight edge and a utility knife.  It doesn’t get much easier than that.  However, under some equipment, foam will indent and stay indented for the life of the product.  If you can live with that, foam is generally your best bet.  It is inexpensive and, because it is so lightweight, is typically fairly cheap to ship.

Hopefully, this gives you some insight into what you’re looking for.  The easiest and fastest way to get your specific questions answered is to call one of our customer service reps and have a conversation.

Customer Review-Premium Foam Mats

Amy H. found an interesting way to use our premium 5/8″ foam mats.  While these mats are commonly used in kids play rooms, those rooms are usually in a house.  🙂

“We bought the tiles to go in our 1-1/2 year-old’s playroom in our fifth wheel travel trailer we just bought.  It has a vinyl type flooring that resembles wood.  We wanted it to have more cushion for safety and also we wanted it to look pretty and colorful like a playroom should,” Amy says.

Premium 5/8″ foam mats come in fifteen vibrant colors so it’s easy to find mats to match your decor. This type of foam flooring is an excellent choice for kids rooms, exercise rooms, basements, family rooms, and trade show booths.  The interlocking foam mats are 2×2′ and interlock together easily with no glue required.  You can lay them directly over any flat, hard surface.

“The installation went great!” Amy told us.  “It only took my husband about 45 minutes.  I went to the Greatmats website and downloaded the installation brochure and the care brochure.  My husband followed the suggestions on the brochure as recommended.  He used cardboard to use under the tiles to protect the floors and a utility knife to make the cuts.  We used borders and went wall to wall.  We had to make cuts even in the center of some tiles to cut where the vents were for our furnace.  I am happy to say we have run the furnace since installation and the tiles have not warped or been damaged by the heat.”

Unlike many foam mats on the market today, these play mats are comprised of a dense EVA foam which makes them tough.  They resist scuffing.  They are also waterproof.  You can also rest assured that they are lead and latex-free.

“We would absolutely buy this product again and are very pleased with it!”  Amy says.  We have already recommended this to friends and family and will continue to.  When we finished installing it, we took pictures and put hem on our Facebook accounts for our friends and family to see.  We got many compliments and questions on where we purchased it and the cost.  We bragged about the wonderful deal and many bright fun colors y’all had to choose from.  The playmats in stores are flimsy and always tend to fall apart.  They also come in too many pieces which is very frustrating because toddlers tend to pull them apart which makes the mat come apart.  I’ve now had this mat for quite some time and never had my toddler rip it up.  It is very easy to clean and is very sturdy!  We are so pleased with y’alls product!”

Thank you for your review, Amy.  We appreciate your business and the time you’ve taken to let us know your thoughts.
