These interlocking dance floor tiles ensure that you have a dance floor where and when you need one. Designed to withstand multiple assemblies, these tiles are durable, professional looking, and create an eye-catching dance floor perfect for banquet centers, performances, weddings, practice and more. Suitable for both indoor and temporary outdoor installations, this dance floor is ready to go wherever you do.

The Details About the Portable Dance Floor Tiles
These dance floor tiles are designed with the needs of a professional performer or business in mind. This floor holds up to the rigorous use expected of a heavy-duty dance floor, and it will look great during event after event. You can choose from many luxurious wood grain finishes, or opt for a slate finish for a more modern touch. With a secure, locking fit, these tiles create a stunning dance floor that doesn’t look temporary at all.

The portable dance floor is suitable for use with many different types of dance shoe types, including high heels.

When choosing the appropriate sized dance floor, we recommend 9 square feet of space per person. Each tile is 1 square foot, so you can order as many tiles as necessary to get the dance floor size that you desire. Expecting a larger crowd for a future event? You can simply order more tiles to create a larger dance floor.

We also offer transport carts that can be used to stack and store the tiles, which can be particularly helpful when you’re working with larger portable dance floors.

These dance floor tiles can be installed over any flat surface, including concrete and carpeting. If you are assembling a dance floor on top of concrete, we recommend that you use a 3mm rubber underlayment to provide some cushion and sound dampening.

The tiles feature a durable tab assembly so that these tiles will withstand countless assemblies. The dance floor will not start to separate and wear out as some other products will. These tiles are easy to assemble and easy to break down, so you don’t waste time on setup and can instead focus more time and energy on your performance.

And if you only use the tiles periodically, it’s no problem. The tiles measure 12 inches x 12 inches, so they’re easy to store in a closet, storage area, or basement until you need them again.

Why These Dance Floor Tiles Are the Right Choice for Your Next Event
Why choose these dance floor tiles? There are plenty of reasons why these tiles are better than the other products out there.

Portability
Max Tile portable dance floor tiles are designed with easy transportation, storage and assembly in mind. These tiles can be installed over any hard surface, giving you plenty of options no matter what venue you’ll be traveling to. Additionally, these tiles are built to last, meaning that through performance after performance, they’ll hold together as tightly as they did the first time you assembled the dance floor.

Though the 12×12-inch tiles are easy to store just about anywhere, consider keeping them assembled in larger squares of 9 tiles so that you can quickly and easily assemble a dance floor. It will mean less prep work for you and more time for you to focus on the event itself.

Quality
These portable dance floor tiles are made in the USA. With a 5-year warranty against manufacturer defects, you know that you’re investing in a quality product that a manufacturer is proud to stand behind.

These dance floor tiles are waterproof for use in any weather. They are made from a commercial-grade vinyl top, and feature durable interlocking tabs. These tiles are made to hold up under repeated uses and are ready to withstand the traffic of commercial use.

Versatility
Not only are these tiles versatile in terms of their ability to go nearly anywhere with you, but you can also customize the dance floor size to your particular needs. If you’re expecting a larger event, order some extra tiles and create a large floor with plenty of dance space. For a smaller event, you can set up just some of the tiles, so you don’t have the awkward appearance of a partially full dance floor. The ability to customize the dance floor’s size can be a major money saver, as you won’t need separate floors for different types of events. And if you’re not sure just how many tiles to order, don’t worry – if your dance floor turns out to be too small, you can always add on more tiles later.

Fast Installation
Your time is precious, and these dance floor tiles are the perfect solution when you’re on the go. You can assemble a 10 x 20 foot portable dance floor in minutes when you use these tiles. It’s even faster to disassemble the floor.

When time is of the essence, you’ll be glad that you’ve opted for these portable dance floor tiles. There are no large, heavy pieces to lug around, and no extra tools required for assembly. Plus, with no special tools required for installation, you won’t have to worry about arriving at an event only to discover that you’ve left an important tool back at home.

Professional Appearance
When you’re traveling to a performance or are providing entertainment at a wedding, you want a dance floor that is eye-catching and professional looking. These dance tiles create a floor that will not disappoint. Choose from a variety of attractive finishes for the exact aesthetic that you want. Easy snap-on border ramps and corners create the perfect event floor package. Your dance floor will look clean and complete.

Potential Uses for Portable Dance Floor Tiles
These versatile portable dance floor tiles are ideal for countless situations. Some of their most popular uses include:
– Temporary dance floors for dance troupes on tour who never know just where they’ll be performing.
– Backup dance floor solutions for professionals hosting dance workshops or competitions who need a little extra space just for a few days.
– Removable dance floors for venues, like hotels, which host banquets and weddings.
– Traveling DJs or entertainment professionals who need a dance floor that can go with them.

River City Dance – Sheryl Baker Clogging on Adagio Marley Dance Floor

Standing Up To the Abrasiveness of Appalachian Clogging

By Brett Hart

River City Dance St Croix Falls WI Greatmats Marley Dance FloorDance, and especially clogging, is in the blood for St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin’s River City Dance studio owner Sheryl Baker. Now in her 40s, Sheryl has experience dancing on the stages of Dollywood in Pegeon Forge, Tenn., for six seasons, dancing for two years on the TV show ”The Old Midwest Barn Dance” and coaching several national champion soloists, receiving overall awards and gold medals at the AAU Junior Olympics, NCHC Championships and National Clogging Champions of America.

River City Dance Owner Sheryl Baker St Croix Falls WI GreatmatsGetting her start in figure skating, tap, jazz, ballet, and Appalachian clogging, Sheryl has been a national clogging instructor and judge since 1990. Sheryl was the recipient of the ”Glen Hill Pioneer Award” in 2006, recognizing her for her contributions to the clogging community in choreography, teaching and spirit. In 2013, she was inducted into the clogging ”Hall of Fame.”

In addition to River City Dance, the 30-year veteran of dance instruction also runs the River City Cloggers based on the other side of the Scenic St. Croix River in Taylors Falls, Minn., and a competitive team called The Clogging Premier. She caters to clients ranging from preschool to 92 years young.

river-city-dance9”Appalachian clogging is wonderful for all ages,” Baker said.

Baker’s clogging teams are known for their acapella clogging skills that combine the best tap sounds with rhythm and sound.

”Our team has the national title for the overall acapella team in the world,” Baker said. ”Our clogging nationals teams have won in some of the precision categories, hoedown categories and some of the line categories.”

Her 17-year-old daughter, Alyssa Keller, is also a two-time national champion in acapella clogging.

Finding the Proper Flooring for Clogging

River City Dance Greatmats Marley Dance FloorAs the popularity of Baker’s instruction grew, she decided to open River City Dance earlier this year and needed some quality flooring to meet the needs of this aggressive form of dance as well as other styles.

While searching for dance flooring online, she found Greatmats.com and was impressed by its descriptions of the types of dance flooring available and ultimately chose Rosco Adagio marley flooring.

”I was looking for a floor that was really durable and would stand up to an abrasive type of activity,” Baker said. ”It was very easy to install. It just laid down, and we got it installed very quickly. We opened our studio after two weeks of prepping the space, and it has really held up.”

river-city-dance2She was also impressed with the controlled slip the flooring offered.

”Because (Appalachian clogging) is so aggressive, and you’re picking your feet up so high, it does move very quickly, you’re looking for a floor that has a surface that has non skid. … The dancers risk falling if you’re on a slippery surface.”

”This floor in particular, the marley floor, is wonderful, where we can do our movements and not have fear of falling,” Baker added. ”I always welcome anyone to look up River City Dance. It’s a fun atmosphere.”

River City Dance also offers classes in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Fitness and Canadian Step Dancing.

St. Paul Ballet Leaps Forward With Greatmats Portable Dance Subfloor

Greatmats Portable Dance Subfloor System Improves Traveling Flooring System for Ballet Company

St. Paul Ballet at Mabel Tainter Memorial Theater
After performing on various forms of hard surfaces since it was formed in 1997, the St. Paul Ballet, which travels across Minnesota and Wisconsin to perform several times per year, has been in search of a portable dance subfloor that would ease the stresses on its dancers at an affordable cost.
St Paul Ballet with Greatmats Portable Dance Subfloor

While the dancers are able to practice on marley over a sprung dance floor, that system was too cumbersome for the Artist-Led company to transport for its traveling performances.

Instead, they’ve dealt with performing over hard surfaces, such as brick, cement or wood floors.

”We’ve performed on everything,” said St. Paul Ballet Artistic Director Zoe Emilie Henrot. ”Our Board of Directors and dancers have been looking to create a traveling dance floor for quite some time to help keep the dancers safe while performing while at the same time allowing the dancers to perform in many different types of venues.”

After much research, St. Paul Ballet Board President Dave Trayers decided that Greatmats’ Dance Subfloor system would be the most cost efficient subflooring system – and the easiest subfloor to travel with.

The Greatmats dance subflooring system consists of a layer of 2×2 foot interlocking foam tiles, topped by a layer of 1×1 foot snap together flat top plastic court tiles. The foam layer adds cushioning while the plastic layer offers a firm surface on which to lay a final layer of marley.

After ordering the subfloor, Trayers quickly went to work custom building a cart that would be able to both transport the tiles easily, but also fit neatly in the company’s trailer without wasting critical space.

”(It was) very easy to transport and install using simple carts on wheels,” Henrot said. ”Lightweight enough for anyone to help with the installation.”

That proved to be a good thing. As an artist-led company, the artist not only dance, but are responsible for administrative roles, organizing performances, outreach events, fundraisers, lectures and even installing their own floors.

The St. Paul Ballet was first able to test the flooring on Sept. 16, 2016 when they performed at the historic Mabel Tainter Memorial Theater located in Menomonie, Wisconsin. The 127-year-old theater, named one of the 15 most spectacular theaters in the world by CNN Travel, accommodated a relatively small 26×20 foot dance floor.

St Paul Ballet installing Greatmats Portable Dance Subfloor with Marley Floor

With a team of six working on installation, the subfloor was laid in about a half hour – the same amount of time it took to roll out and tape down the finished marley surface.

”I was very impressed with how little time it took to install the floor,” Henrot said.

After studying dance for more than 20 years and being professional dance for five years, Henrot knew exactly what she was looking for from the flooring system.

”Jumping felt great right away,” she said. ”This system definitely felt MUCH better on the joints when compared to the other floors we have performed on. … Our bodies were not as sore from the shock of landings the next day.”

The one drawback she found, however, was that the floor was ”just a little too soft” to support pointe work. ”It would be excellent as is for modern dance,” she said.

”We are thrilled to be working with Greatmats on the dance floor system,” Henrot said. ”We hope to be able to help design a floor that will protect dancer bodies for year to come!”
