Kids No Gi Grappling at the 2016 AGF Tulsa Open

The American Grappling Federation Tulsa Open was filled with tough Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition on Saturday, June 16 and defending team champion Triton Fight Center did not disappoint in guarding its crown.

The reigning champs compiled 490 team points, topping runner up Clinch Martial Arts Academy by a whopping 83 points. Placing third, with 240 points, was Team LDMA (Living Defense Martial Arts).

Triton Fight Center won three of the four divisions, compiling the majority of its points in the Kids Gi Division where it racked up 149 points. It also won the Adults Gi Division with 134 points and Kids Gi Division with 133 points.

Clinch Martial Arts Academy pounded the mat in the Adults Gi Division where it more than doubled Triton Fight Center with 169 points. Triton Fight Center was second with 74 points and Academy of Martial Arts was third with 39 points.

Clinch Martial Arts Academy was the Adults Gi Division runner up with 113 points, followed by Team LDMA, with 68. It also placed second in the Kids No Gi Division with 74 points, again followed by Team LDMA, with 73.

Team LDMA had its highest finish in the Kids Gi Division where it was second with 84 points. Sandro Sampaio BJJ Academy took third with 56.

Eight Four team recorded points at the tournament. Rounding out the top 10 were: Sandro Sampaio BJJ Academy (142), Rubalcava Jiu Jitsu (99), Cobra BJJ (95), Omar French BJJ, Academy of Martial Arts (70), Lovato BJJ (67) and MHBJJA (Mike Harris BJJ Association, 50).

Kids Gi BJJ at 2016 Summer Classic in Duncanville, Texas

June 16, 2016 – While 70 martial arts teams recorded points at the May 7, 2016 American Grappling Federation (AGF) Summer Classic at Bob Knight’s Field House in Duncanville, Texas, North Texas MMA emerged as the undisputed winner, racking up 389 points. Placing second was BQuick Jiu Jitsu, at 287 points. Alex Martins Brazilian Jiu Jitsu took third with 263 team points.

One third of North Texas MMA’s team points came in the Kids No Gi Division as they won the division with 130. Warrior Martial Arts was second (108 points), and Alex Martins BJJ claimed third (76 points).

North Texas MMA also won the Kids Gi Division with 115 points, followed by Warrior Martial Arts (103 points) and AMBJJ (91 points).

BQuick JJ gave itself a big big boost in the team standings when it won the Adults No Gi Division with 103 points, edging out North Texas MMA by just one point. Allianc BJJ filled the No. 3 spot with 50 points.

Alex Martins Brazilian Jiu Jitsu climbed to the top of the tightly contested Adults Gi Division with 55 points. Lovato BJJ was second with 51, one point ahead of third-place BQuick Jiu Jitsu. Each of the top eight teams in the Adults Gi Division was within 25 points of each other.

June 16, 2016 — Tulsa, Oklahoma will see an influx of grapplers this weekend as the American Grappling Federation hosts the Tulsa open on Saturday at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center (UMAC).

The tournament, in its fifth year, will feature more than 400 competitors ranging from 3 years old to 63 years of age. Eight-four academies will also be represented.

Last year, Triton Fight Center won the overall team championship in a field where 66 teams earned points and looks to defend its title this year. Clinch Martial Arts Academy was second, and Lovato BJJ, third, last year and are aiming to claim the top spot in 2016.
